November News

Maeve Doolan's opening for her solo show at Woodbridge Library has been changed toWed., November 8 from 5 - 7 PM. This is a great opportunity to not only see great art by Maeve, but to also support an NAHS member in a wonderful event. Hope you can stop by.

Also a reminder on National Portfolio Day at University of Hartford on Saturday, November 4th. The portfolio reviews begin at 12:30 and go to 4 PM.

Another reminder that we have visiting artist (art history professor) Marice Rose coming by Amity's lecture hall on November 21 during 3rd and 4th periods to give a virtual tour of Chartres cathedral and NAHS members are welcome to join. Sponsored by the jamie Hulley visiting artist program.
Next visiting artist will be Chip Croft, a documentary film maker and the owner of SeaVideo TV, who will be in onDecember 8th.

T-Shirt money is still being collected and can be dropped off at the Art Room 374 with Mr. Flinn or with Ms. Holt. ($2)

Service Offerings for November/December

Well the yearbook picture on our November meeting came out great, but the real important stuff follows:

If you haven't volunteered for an event yet, Don't forget to sign up for one service before December (although you can always help with more than one because that's really nice)

- offerings include:

1. Amity Teen Center Mural Painting with Mrs. Eisner (see Mts. Eisner, Shoshana Spencer or Kate Lisi)

2. Mural projects at Amity with Maeve Doolan or Liza Gordon

3. Help with the Matting and Framing workshop on November 15.

4. Contributing artwork for the December show at Orange Case Memorial Library.

4. Help with Exhibition opening on December 8. This means simply showing up for the opening, or even better volunteering to bring cheese, crackers, chips, juice, plates, cake, etc. for the party, or helping to clean up at the end.

Mid October Events

On Wed. October 18, Mr. Flinn will be conducting a workshop on portfolio preparation for college bound students in the art room 374, starting at 2:30. The workshop will focus on choosing works, photographing your work and preparing a digital portfolio to send to colleges with your application. The workshop will run until 3:15.

Also coming up is a solo exhibit of Maeve Doolan's art at the Woodbridge Library through November. The opening reception is Friday, Nov. 3 from 5 - 7 and it would be great to show support by stopping by, and a great opportunity to see many of Maeve's amazing pieces hung together.
